Tony,
You find the best quotes!
I recently studied this epistle with a friend, and found it extremely edifying. Among the best devotional literature I've read. From this quote, I guess we could say Clement definitely wasn't a dispensationalist. And he wouldn't argue with Sola Fide, either.
Thanks for posting.
Derek
Hi Derek,
Yeah, I agree. But much as I appreciate Clement and others - like Iranaeus - it never ceases to amaze me how their stuff is so obviously NOT scripture.
When they speak on ecclesiology or doctrinal grounds the Apostolic authority is just not there.
This is a wonderful confirmation to me of the fact that the New Testament Books themselves were recognized by the church as inspired, but not compiled by her and then called inspired.
Blessings,
Tony
