Romans Chapter 1
Paul's Gospel, Paul's Testimony Part 3
The Lordship of Christ (v.4)

Romans 1:4 and (His Son) was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord...

Paul continues to radiate in his testimony the foundations of his gospel:

2Peter is an interesting epistle. In it, Jesus Christ is everywhere referred to as “Lord and Saviour”. (2Peter 1:11, 2:20, 3:2, 3:18) Or we can look to Acts and see Peter giving a sermon…
"Let all the house of Israel therefore know assuredly that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified." {Acts 2:36}
Lord and Saviour. We cannot separate those two aspects of Jesus Christ. If He is Saviour then He must be Lord. If He is not our Lord then He will not be our Saviour. You can’t have it both ways. You can’t have Christ and keep one foot in the world. It’s all or nothing, in or out, saved or lost.

This truth is key to a proper understanding of sanctification. Modern heresies will promise you that you can have both Christ and the world. Truthful preaching will warn you that you cannot. Good preaching and teaching will cast you upon the law so that you will run to Christ for grace. Apostate teaching will tell you, in sometimes very subtle ways, that grace has freed you from obedience. It is a lie from the pit of hell because, in truth, Grace has freed you to obey. We will examine Lordship more fully as we proceed.
